Congrats to you Micke for your achievement.
I'd rather not put grease in the gearbox but fine oil or WD40. It worked OK for me a number of times. For a couple of sextants I had to open the gearbox totally or partly to lubricate the inside. If I remember well the gearbox lid is closed by 4 or 6 small screws. Sometimes putting oil on the endless screw and working it back and forth its full travel a number of times was enough.
