If I may add to the recent discussions on
the Plath Sextants, I just saw in a local (Danish) trader an older (49646)
Plath sextant for sale. The seller is asking for bids with a recommended price
of 3,500 Danish Kroner (about 575USD).
But I’m raising this as I can see in the photo a rather curious eye piece attachment, and I wonder if anyone might know what this might be. Is it some sort of image- stabiliser, light enhancement device, or could it be an artificial horizon?
Perhaps whatever it is might justify what might be a
bit of a high price.
Anyway, in light of recent posts, I thought
I’d share this photo. If it fails to load you can see the sextant here.
