Re: Please help to identify a sextant

The picture is too small to determine the type of the sextant.
The telescope is longer than the usual "Sun telescopes" (inverting, magnifying usually up to 12x).
So probably this is some custom made telescope with higher magnification,
and the use of a tripod is not surprising with such a telescope.

Apparently the guy tries to take a very precise sun altitude with artificial horizon, and
specially modified sextant (high power scope + tripod).

    Alex.

Subject: [NavList] Please help to identify a sextant

    Hello!

My main question is what's the magnification of such a telescope? Another one
    - which sextant is this? Is it for the higher magnification of the scope the
sextant is fitted with a tripod?

    Thank you in advance.

    Regards,
    Tony
