I have a Garmin GPS III, now over 20 years old. I still use it regularly and today it booted up in its usual fashion (leisurely compared to modern devices) and shows the correct time and date. (I like it because it it robust, waterproof and you can see the display in strong sunlight - unlike a smart phone)
I suspect old units which have not been used for a long period - perhaps since the last roll-over - may be susceptible to the roll-over error in a way they would not if they had been used recently.
