    After placing 3rd in our race to St Leonards from Melbourne into a cold southerly F5 under grey drizzly skies, Flinders Peak cleared into view well enough for a VSA on the return leg. My plot is attached. My VSA fix by height and compass bearing is shown as is my GPS position at the time.  I made no adjustments other than 2' index error correction to my observed 35'. Regarding the distance thus calculated by 1.86 * elevation (m) / m.o.a it was very close to the real thing. But, I made a bad compass bearing measurement. Which itself is illuminating.
