What I do to save time on Bris calibration is to use a metal sextant as the standard. Mount the Bris six inches behind a sextant sight tube then it is just a matter of overlapping Suns and reading off the sextant for the calibrated angle (good to about +/- 2 '). A lot quicker than waiting all day for the various Suns to set on a natural horizon.
