A tiny correction unless Frank 'sharp pencils' it for me. At 21:31 UT on 4th November 2024 I wrote: "You enter AP3270/HO249 Vol3 with Latitude and LHA Aries only. You don’t need to worry about SHAs, Vol3 takes care of that for you, so yes, you only need one assumed position for a sandwich fix."
Please read that as "You enter AP3270/HO249 Vol 1 with Latitude and LHA Aries only. You don’t need to worry about SHAs, Vol 1 takes care of that for you, so yes, you only need one assumed position for a sandwich fix.
My excuse is that the cover of AP3270 in the the UK was colour coded. Vol 1 (Selected Stars) had a red band, Vol 2 had a green band, and Vol 3 had a yellow band. Although each Vol was clearly marked 1, 2, or 3, we never called them that. We simply called them the Red, Green, or Yellow Band. DaveP
