Greg, I noticed in your variant scenario you decided that "10:18:56 local time" was EST. But it's August, and they use daylight time in the Bahamas (they don't need to but given the very close economic ties between the country and the eastern US, it makes sense). Of course this just highlights the evils of zone time! And for anyone who hasn't heard this commandment enough, "Thou shalt not use Zone Time for yer sights!" I don't think it changes your analysis in any way since, I assume, that's the last spot where you converted from zone time to UT, and basically from then on it's 15:18:56 UT, and that's that. :)
