Do, please, beware the plethora of fake-name sextants on eBay and others of their ilk. These are sextants typically made off a back alley of some Indian city that are deceptively marked "C. Plath" or "Tamaya" (both as "Model 1712") and more garish versions marked "J. Scott", among others, all with similarly garish claims of history and provenence. eBay refuses to take them down so it really is a case of "buyer beware."
