I think it depends on the character of the particular window you are dealing with. I have taken some hundreds of sights out the window of my living room (which, in an Alberta winter is the best way to do it) using an artificial horizon. I frequently get LOPs that lie within 1 nm of my GPS-position. This result is consistent, regardless of the altitude of the celestial object I am shooting.
So if there are imperfections in the glass of my front window, they are pretty minor.
