Re: Quick Estimate of Sun Declination

    Hello!

I'm looking at this table trying to invent a rule to remember on which day an equinox and a solstice would happen.

So far I could suspect that:

    • vernal equinox is always on March 20
    • summer solstice is on June 20 if it is a leap year, otherwise it is on June 21
    • autumn equinox is on September 22 if it is a leap year or a year right after the leap one, otherwise it is on September 23
    • winter solstice is on December 21 unless it is a third year in the leap years sequence, when it is on December 22

    Is my speculation correct?

I need this to re-create the date scale (of a quadrant) properly for an arbitrary year number.

    Regards,

    Tony
