Antoine, You conclude "Horizontal contraction Formula (2) : ΔD" = D° * π / 3". That being so, working wholly in degrees,
ΔD = π D / 10800.
But, if R be the mean of the earth's polar and equatorial radii in nm,
π R = 10801.
So, ΔD = D / R. What a coincidence! If only it was that simple.
