Thanks for everyone who replied. Fortunately I recall the constellations fairly well and am pretty good at recognizing planets. I'm working on the southern constellations. For the trip. I'll check out dec 5-15 at around 55-65 south latitude for their positions. Im hoping to get azimuth and Hc from equations and then to use st. Hilliare's intercept method. Does that sound reasonable or do you have alternative ideas?
