I've got almost as good results from LAN. Time Sextant sun Alts before noon, then time same Alt after noon, the middle is LAN. corret for EQ of Time then longitude difference at 15 deg per hour and you have UTC. No sight reductions required.
i assume, before St Hilaire methods, the old timers did "time sights" the old way?
Anyone done this recently? I would appreciate an example.
