Hallo Rob,
When I was first in Amsterdam, I visited the Vincent Van Gogh museum, the Rijksmuseumand (Rembrandt and others), and of course bars and pubs: beers, good music; R&R and metal. We were cycling in Holland, lovely people and beautiful places. Very, very good memories.
I was also sailing around the Frisian islands and the North Sea.
Fair winds.
Regarding sea battles in history, there is a graphic novelist, comic, writtter: Jean Delitte, who has a wonderful and very well documented serie Les Grandes Batailles navales. (SeeBelem, I was on board twice)
Fair winds and following seas. --
