I don't know if speculating on the design is allowed yet, so let me put it in code. It might be a type of d--lei-------. What I can't explain are the elongated solar images---some cylinder in the optical system for some reason? That's certainly no problem, since a sharp image is required only in the east-west direction. The two colors could come from a dichroic surface.
