Ok I'll take a wild gander. Two mirrors laying facing up at some slight angle to each other and pointed at the white board. As the sun approaches local noon the red begins to light up reflecting on the board, then as time advances close to local noon the two begin to combine their reflection into one beam of light thus combining to become white light (??).
That's my intial wild guess with nothing else to go on :-).
