I think my dementia is getting worse!
You obviously still need a sextant and visible horizon for Ho Polaris for latitude. Do not need either for the longitude, just the nocturnal, watch and almanac for GHA Kochab or similar circumpolar star. Still a good future project though. I would like to find out whether an accurate nocturnal could give reasonable longitude by this method. I know even the simple version gives reasonable latitudes. (no watch, almanac etc needed here, just sextant and visible horizon.)
I must start taking those tablets but can't remember what they are called!
