yes, seems you can just eyeball it, even without a nocturnal and your maximum error for the correction (unlikely) is about 40' (I think 41' now). So perhaps the mathematicians can confirm that is why I get better than 15' accuracy for latitude with a nocturnal only accurate to 1 degree?
re using the nocturnal for longitude, I guess, using GHA Kochab or similar, the angle measurement needs to be much more precise. So I am going to have a go at a big nocturnal with vernia ,hopefully accurate to 5-10'. watch this space!
