Is there a way to enter a search on this web site that amounts to "Not Re:"? Such a search would show me the starting queries for all threads. Sometimes interesting topics come up that are somewhat off-topic of the original query, but nonetheless I thought it would be interesting to browse by initial queries.
I like that idea a lot. I think I can implement something like that without too much trouble. Hey whaddaya know, I just did. In the search subject phrase, add -Re: at the end. This will not work on any other words (it's not a generalized "exclude" capability). If you search on lunars in the past ten years, you will get 868 messages. But now, if you search on lunars -re:, then you'll find only 123 messages --the "root" messages of the various threads.
