Alan,
I think you have done well getting an Astra IIIb. I own a Tamaya that I got before the Astra came to market. It FEELS like more of a precision-made instrument than the Astra. But truth is, I get the exact same level of accuracy from an Astra as I do from my Tamaya. If I were starting over again today, I would purchase an Astra rather than pay more money for a Tamaya.
