    This is probably not a sextant but a stadimeter, see for example the second picture here:

    At 1m55s of the video there is asextant laying out on the shelf under the 
    windows of the bridge (?).  Kind of casually being left out unless they are 
    using it for horz angles or waterline to horizon ranges.
