Thank you, Rafael, for your kind words. Thomas may find my post of 28 September, 2010 at www.sextantbook.com of interest, as I go into some detail about the evolution of the sextant frame and micrometer. I really need to edit the post on the micrometer and add details of the Soviet SNO-T sextant mechanism, which represented a radical departure from that originated by C Plath.
