What's going on in this photo? Is the "umbrella" some sort of prismatic device for backsights?? Frank Reed
Such an impeccably turned out officer would naturally wish to ensure that his cap was on straight and at the correct Naval angle at all times, even when taking sights. I think that’s what it’s for. You could always do the 'save as' and look at 'properties' trick, but it doesn't help much. DaveP
