    Another option might be crystal cement used by watchmakers to secure glass crystals to their bezels.  Almost identical application.  Here's a link to one vendor:


    Actually I've used this very glue to attach a new shade to its mount on a Navy Mark 2 sextant some years back, so I can testify that it works.  Cleanup is fairly friendly---unlike epoxy, you can use a soft tool like a bamboo stick or a toothpick to peel away any excess along the edges, giving a clean and orderly join line.  (Try the toothpick to clean out the old glue as well.)
