As a cadet at SUNY Maritime in the late 70's I used a Seiko Divers automatic and time ticks from the bridge single sideband. First purchases following graduation in 1980 was a digital Seiko, Sony 2001 shortwave, and a Tamaya NC-77. The NC-77 saved me countless hours of labor and stress pre GPS.
