A little more information would help. What were the coordinates of the AP you used for the HO229 calculation and what were they for the HO 249 calculation? At first blush, based on what you have provided so far, it appears you used the wrong LHA for one of the computations. In HO229 you use the LHA for the star while for HO249 you need the LHA for Aries. You should not be using the same LHA for both computations.

Subject: [NavList] Sight Reduction Tables (HO 249 Vol 1 and HO 229 Vol 4) - A Problem
On at 14 h, 48 min, 56 s, (UCT) on Nov 20th, I reduced a sight for Vega using HO 229 Marine Sight Reduction Tables Vol 4. Everthing work out fine, my LHA was 239 degrees and corrected Hc was 12 degs 05.4 min (which was vey close to my Ho). However, when I used HO 249 Vol 1 (Selected Stars) it did not work at all. I entered the table for LAT 49 degrees North with an LHA of 239 and got an Hc 59 degs 36 min. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong!
