Thank you very much for all these detailed explanations. I asked this question because it is a statement that I read in a book of Celestial Navigation sold in France. It seemed strange to me, simply by the fact that if this were really the case, it would have been useless to specify the sign of d on each page. You confirm that this is an error in this book and I thank you for it.
