Re sextant lubes, I've never, perhaps incorrectly lubed a plastic sextant. On the metal type, I have an Astra 111B, that I have lubed with Break Free, a firearms preservative-lubricant. I also believe, though can't substantiate it, that any good gun oil would serve well.
