Hello David
Base 10 Log(sin(41)) = -.8131
10+ Base 10 log(sin(41)) = 9.8169
10 is added to avoid negative numbers. This makes further calculations all additions.

I think that I have bitten of more than I can chew. I decided to calculate t using Norie 1970
The first part is to evaluate sin(lat) * sin(dec)
which beomes
log(sin(lat))
log(sin(dec))
Sum
Anti log
From Norie log (sin (41)) = 9.81694 (bar 1.81694)
Regardless of which notation is used the mantissa stays the same.
If I enter log (sin (41)) into my fx-82AU the answer is -0.18306. Not only is the answer negative but the mantissa differs from that in Norie.
What am I doing wrong?
