Thank you both for the timely information on calculating refraction for negative angles. From my home on a ridge 800’ above average terrain, I occasionally time sunsets (upper limb) on the distant horizon requiring a large value for dip (27.4’). Just as your posts showed up, I was trying to figure out how to properly calculate refraction. It looks like either the Bennett formula or the FER formula is more than adequate for my low-precision observations. I appreciate the very helpful information!
