Hi Frank, I think around 10:30 pm local time; ursa major is on the right, ursa minor in the center, part of Draco in between, Errai from Cepheus is the bright star to the left, Alfirk just about the trees. Errai, Polaris, Dubhe, and Merak are almost on a horizontal line in photo. Kochab and Pherkad from UMI have about the right tilt, i.e. Kochab a bit more to the right in photo. Kochab is slightly higher than Alioth in the photo. The line Pherkad [UMI], Theban from Draco, and Mizar [UMA] is not quite horizontal, but at a slight slant downwards towards the right. The line Dubhe-Alioth-Alkaid, however, suggests a slightly later time, maybe 11pm. I think that maybe some of the clues are distorted in the photo? Thanks for the puzzle - Carsten
