Mark,
Nice to see you on the list again. And what a nice offer to take folks out for a lesson/experience in CelNav.
Lot's to poke fun at with Lunars. While casual readers think Harrison 'solved' the longitude problem and with H4 and it was done and over with, there was this small overlooked detail - there was no effective chronometer industry for almost 100 years. So, while Cook and a few others knew where they were, no one else did. But in reality, the astronomers's lunars were the tactical (not strategic) winners of the Longitude Prize with their Lunars.
At least the Board did recognize Mayer (his widow), Ramsden and a few others for their contributions to longitude.
Good luck on an ode.
