It looks like Sven Yrvind has a new type of Bris sextant in the pipeline under testing. He has proven concept. He calls it a survival sextant.

I will try to construct a version to do trials. Rather than making a single long variable reflecter it may be more pocket friendly to split the angle ranges into two shorter versions.
