I have recently acquired a Tecsun SW radio (portable and battery operated) to get a hopefully-mostly-analog time signal from WWV for my celnav practice.  It came with a long antenna but I can't seem to find the trick to pick up the signal.

I am in central North Carolina (USA) and my home is made of brick, so I suspect having the antenna outside is preferred tho that by itself did not solve my reception problem.  I'd like the ask the people here for advice on best practices on setting up a SW antenna - if you have suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
