I also use a portable Tecsun, the 990 version. I am in Melbourne Australia and I can pick up WWVH from late afternoon onwards with just the standard telescopic antenna on the radio, although the 10m length of wire provided improves the quality. By late pm Melbourne, the sun has set on the Western Pacific. 10MHz and 15 work. I can never pick up 20.
On occasions, I can also hear WWV. So I hear the male announcer first, followed by the female.
