    A couple of years ago, on this site probably on a FB pages such as the Celestial Navigation, I posted a related question that went something like this:

    I have read books or papers or explanations regarding the use of negative or plus signs attached to longitude.  I indicated that I understood that the longitude west was negative and that I read from some reputable source where the longitude west was referenced as positive.  It seems as though the westward longitude was referenced as positive by some early version of Google Earth, thought I’m not certain precisely where to point.   

    I posted my question and the answer(s) were vague at best mentioning some possible astronomical usage as I recall.

    Your statement has given some validity to my recollection but more importantly, a clearer understanding.  Thank you, again,
