    How I rember is this:

    Before noon the sun is rising so I put the sun below the AH image and after adjusting the sextant close, I allow the sun to rise into the AH image.  Rising - upper limb.

    Afternoon the sun is getting lower.  Put the sun above the AH image and let the lowering sun go down and touch.  Sun lowering - lower limb.
