I used to do lunar graze occultations with my old astronomy club. They said I was cursed, because almost every time (all but one) I went it would be cloudy. Some members claimed that they would not bother showing up if they knew I would be there, but I really believed they had other commitments. Now I'm not so sure. Maybe there really is a Klein curse, but at least I did get to see something similar to Don's photo.

Here was my view at 12:13 pm EST, just west of Boston.

I went out around 11:00 with binoculars, and, after finding the moon, a little sliver not that easy to find, nearby Venus was easy, much brighter than the moon. So I got a telescope ready. At about 12:15 the clouds started rolling in. I was hoping for a break by the time of the occultation, but it just got worse. To paraphrase Joni Mitchell, "I looked for Venus...but clouds got in the way."
