    Eric

The Sun called round this morning, so I took the opportunity to do three real shots with my Smiths Mk2a (like you’re buying) starting at a daft time (09:23:23 mid-time) just to show you we weren’t chained from birth to the Air Almanac 10-minute GHA slot.  I’ll put the results up when I’ve had chance to work them out.

However, I learned a valuable lesson.  Never try to remove a heavy conical sextant case from the top of a wardrobe by holding it by its dust cover.  The sextant will shoot out like an orange pip squeezed between your forefinger and thumb.  I only just caught it before it hit the floor. All Smiths, Kevin-Hughes sextants were built to withstand rough treatment, but I’m not sure about the 6ft drop test. DaveP
