    Francis,

    My experinces were the same.  Flying in South America and Africa in the '70s and '80s all you had outside large cities were NDBs.  When the INS units were installed they took out Loran and CONSOL.  Then they took out the sextant port so no more cel nav.  We had ADF units that could tune AM broadcast towers.  Many a time I homed in on a commerical radio broadcast.

    I have wanted to buy a small RDF unit on E-Bay but it sounds like they are closing down the NDBs.  Good thing we have NavList !  Keep cel nav alive !
