    I have to wonder about this explanation - WW II did not start until September of 1939.  When each year was the ADMN updated?  Churchill's predecessor, Nevil Chamberlin. was preaching that he could stop the war almost right up to the point where Germany invaded Poland, thereby starting the war.

    My theory is that when the war started there was a big increase in sales of the ADMN. The edition at that time was 1938. There was a 1943 reprint but very few copies seem to be available.
