    Reference my earlier post, oh dear, rushing my fences again.  Orion’s belt will be at maximum altitude when due north, but this won’t occur at local midnight every night.  There’s a slight matter of hour angle to think about. It could be any time of the day or night depending on the values of GHA Aries that day. Therefore, all you can say about time from the sword angle is that it’s about three hours before maximum altitude.  This shouldn’t affect the calculated latitude. DaveP
