Well done!
My first celestial fix was obtained with the same idea (without plotting). I let Wolfram Mathematica 7.0 to solve numerically the system of trigonometrical equations from where it followed pairs of solutions {Lat, Long}. Then I chose the one which is closest my approximate position. I remember it was quite an accurate fix!
Haversine approach is totally new for me. Thanks!
