Thanks for your detailed reply. I'm out of time for today to post a considered reply, but I should be able to get back to you tomorrow. In the meantime, I do hope that others will chime in on this topic. William Bligh was a talented nautical astronomer (the old phrase for "celestial navigator") whatever professional faults of management style he may have had.
