Thanks for that David. The cursor on the index arm on mine only goes up to 95 degrees before the index arm crashes into the horizon mirror mount. I think it is clear from the photos in the example for which you sent a link that the same will be the case, there is no way you could get the index arm over to 120°.
Mine is also dated 1945 but it has a plastic handle rather than a wooden handle, as well as a 'plastic' box rather than a wooden box. And the scale finishes at 95 degrees. There must have been a design change in 1945. The build quality is still very good though.
