A month ago I posted a day's work from the Finnish barque Alastor together with some comments. Encouraged by Ed Popko I have now made a more detailed analysis of that day's work, going through every calculation and trying to explain its purpose, also adding excerpts of the Nautical Almanac and a selection of the nautical tables used. For those interested, I would propose that the attached file is printed on paper, and the work followed in detail. An example of real navigation 84 years ago.
