Hi folks
Though it's not about celestial navigation, you may nevertheless be interested in this update from the General Lighthouse Authorities of the UK and Ireland on the future eLORAN in Europe. The weblink is interesting too.
'The GLA are diligently investigating the potential transition of UK and European eLoran services to a fully commercial operation. A viable solution is sought which can provide eLoran as a sustainable and cost-effective backup system for GPS, enabling the combination of GPS and eLoran to provide resilient Positioning, Navigation and Time (PNT) for mariners and users in other sectors. To this end, the GLA is engaged with the ‘Earth Star’ consortium of US and UK industries, coordinated through the auspices of the RNT Foundation http://rntfnd.org .'
All the best
David
