Our Running FIX(RFIX)(36d 25.5'S  150d 34.5'E), was on 31/07/1998 @
15:30:00ZT. Log Reading was 454.5mi, the Knotmeter is still
inoperative. We are headed for a Waypoint(35d 10.0'S  151d 00.0'E)
that will let us pass Jervis Bay and head for Sydney. TC 15.4d.  Var
14dE, Dev 1dW.

At a Log reading of 494.9mi we manage the following sights through
broken and scattered clouds.

Comparing the TC from our RFIX(36d 25.5'S  150d 34.5'E) to our Star
FIX, we adjust the Compass Course(CC) for the TC difference to account
for a suspected current.

The tops of a cliffs(27.4mtrs) on the northern side of Jervis Bay are
just barely visible ahead. The sky is a broken overcast and cloud
cover is increasing. The little moon light we have will soon be lost.

We want to know what our distance off when abeam of the cliffs will
be. We take a set of Prediction Bearings on a cliff. The distance run
between the first and second bearings is 10mi by the Log.

We continue on our course holding the TC from Q2. At a Log reading of
535.2mi at 22:09:59ZT we calculate our DR.

sailing vessel, 40 Feet LOA. 38 Feet LWL; Cutter rigged. Looks a lot
like a Mason. Can tack to 45d. Dist to Horizon: Nmi = SQRT HE@mtrs x
2.07; Nmi = SQRT HE@ft x 1.17. Water Tank = 60 gal(Imp.). Fuel Tanks =
90 gal (Imp.). Fuel consumption .450 gal/Hr at 8.3 Kts.
