Hello everyone,
As the continuation of my previous post https://NavList.net/m2.aspx/
I deposited a thin layer of soot from oil lamp on top of float glass to demonstrate the effect on the sun image. One can see a drastic difference in the image of the sun from clean and darkened part of glass. It allows to view the sun image in this mirror AH with unprotected eyes and without horizon shades. No glare at all !
The same results from depositing soot on top of FSM-mirror surface. The problem is that the soot does not attach permanently.
My question is: are there some sort of modern optical substrates creating the same effect as soot in the photos? ... kind of a neutral density filter (ND-filter) etc.
